FAQ

FAQ
What is Lambda Lambda Lambda?
Lambda Lambda Lambda is an “alternative fraternity” established in 2005 at the University of Connecticut.  Its name is a direct reference to the 1984 classic comedy Revenge of the Nerds.  Our stated purpose is “dedication to the enjoyment and enrichment of pop culture and to the brotherhood of its members”. We are a co-ed social fraternity that does not discriminate based on race, gender, religion, class, gender identity, or sexual orientation.  We are a fraternity in the purest sense of the word: that is, a family.  Lambda Lambda Lambda has no affiliation with the Interfraternity and Panhellenic councils.

Why do you want a fraternity at WWU?
WWU is already home to several Greek letter organizations and a wide variety of student clubs.  WWU is a great home for Lambda Lambda Lambda because of its open and diverse atmosphere.  Tri-Lamb is not a traditional fraternity in that it is open to all comers, does not charge dues, and does not discriminate based on gender identity, sexual orientation or anything else.  While we can understand that there’s a lot of apprehension about letting a “frat” into WWU, we invite you to sit down with us with an open mind.  We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.  Furthermore, Tri-Lambda has existed at WWU since 2011; the only difference now is that we intend to become an AS club.

What is pledging like?
Lambda Lambda Lambda’s pledging process is essentially a joke.  We accept all comers and absolutely do not haze.  We believe pledging is part of the fun of being in a fraternity.  Pledges are invited to take leadership in their own pledging process and develop fun pledge tasks that help each pledge class come together as brothers.

Why do you use the word “brother”?
Although Tri-Lambda does not discriminate by gender, our members are known as “brothers”.  This is simply a nod to the tradition that we grew out of, as well as to the original Tri-Lambda of Revenge of the Nerds.  In Tri-Lambda parlance, “brother” is an entirely gender neutral term.

Let's Go!

It’s time for another awesome year with Delta Chapter!  This year’s goals are:

  •          Pass on to the next generation the values, traditions, and secrets of Lambda Lambda Lambda fraternity.
  •         Achieve recognition as an Associated Students club of WWU.
  •          Be an awesome crew of badasses and enjoy the hell out of our time together.

We are Lambda Lambda Lambda, Delta Chapter.  We were formed at the University of Connecticut in 2006 as a gender-neutral and inclusive fraternity dedicated to the enjoyment and enrichment of pop culture in a positive and welcoming spirit of brotherhood.  Formed in 2006 at the University of Connecticut as a tribute to the 1984 classic Revenge of the Nerds, Lambda Lambda Lambda has consistently held to the inclusive and “difference-positive” ideals of its namesake, and dedicated itself to various social and service-oriented pursuits.  Although Lambda Lambda Lambda is a fraternity and its members are traditionally known as brothers, our organization is open to all WWU students regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation!  The spirit of Lambda Lambda Lambda is to welcome everyone as a brother in the all-important pursuit of fun.
